A huge thank you to everybody who has helped us over the past year and a half to realize the Ocean of Blood project. With all our fundraising and building in New York, the Swimming Cities crew has built a floating platform system of five pontoon boats and shipped it all to India. We are ready to fly our crew of ten to New Delhi Sept. 20th. We are still a few thousand dollars shy of our fundraising goal and every bit helps. Here are a few ways you can still support us at this crucial phase of our project:
1. We are accepting donations small and large via PayPal. Include your mailing address (or local pickup) with donations $20+ and we will send a gift of two "Battle for Mau Mau Island" banners screenprinted on canvas--one for you and one for a friend. The flags were made by our collective for a naval battle we hosted this summer.
2. New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is fiscally sponsoring us as a non-profit arts group, allowing us to accept tax-deductible donations over $250. Please contact Project Manager Orien McNeill - theoceanofblood@gmail.com for details. You will receive a custom made or selected thank you token from our trip upon our return for your contribution.
3. We are continuing to host events until the very end--from a family-friendly daytime barbeque out in Far Rockaway to a hot & sweaty warehouse party sendoff in Brooklyn to an appearance at NY World Maker Faire in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens. Check out our News page or join our mailing list for details on upcoming events, or better yet, information on getting involved with volunteer/press opportunities.
4. Also, we can receive in-kind donations ranging anywhere from food/booze for our fundraisers to camping/cooking/marine equipment for our travels. These are also backed by NYFA. Contact Project Manager Orien McNeill - theoceanofblood@gmail.com
Thank you again for your support, look out for our updates from India!
