Our mission as coaches is the train your swimmer to achieve their fastest potential through a proven program that will keep them improving and competing in swimming through their college years. They don’t have to join us as fast swimmers, we’ll train them that way.
Pamela Braseth -Team coordinator and Lead Coach
Coach Pam has been coaching youth athletics since 1982. Coach Pam is an ASCA Level 3 coach who started working with swimmers in 1994 at the Fort Walton YMCA. Swim lessons, Age Group Swim Coach and Adult Swim Coach are all part of her swim experience. Coach Pam has coached with the Total Immersion Program under Terry Laughlin and with the Triathlon Olympic Training Center Swim Coach. Coach Pam assisted with the Choctaw Swim Team for 3 years and currently coaches the Liza Jackson Swim Team (6 years- Boys County Champions 2006) and the Fort Walton Beach High School Team (5 years – Boys County Champions 2003-2006, Girls County Champions 2006). In the past 3 years Coach Pam’s swimmers have competed at Junior Nationals, won events at the High School State Meet, won events at the Southeastern Championship Meet and are Middle School & High School County Record Holders.
2005 and 2006 High School Coach of the Year, Coach Pam has an Associates Degree in Food Science and Nutrition and a Bachelors in Secondary Education. Married with 2 swimmers and a triathlete husband, Coach Pam also works at Dragon Sports.
Susan VerSteeg – Hurlburt Field
Coach Susan is an ASCA Level 1 Coach who started swimming at age 7 on a summer age group swim team. Swimming at Burlington County Community College for 2 years Coach Susan specialized in the 1650. Teaching swimming and life guarding around the world, while her husband was Active Duty Air Force, Coach Susan received her Masters in Education. Coach Susan currently coaches the Bruner Middle School Swim Team ( 9 years – Boys County Champions 4 times and Girls County Champions 2005). Coach Susan will lead the Hurlburt Practice Site and assists at others.
Coach Susan is a Guidance Counselor at Bruner Middle School and the mother of 1 swimmer.
Kathy Ritacco – Bluewater
Coach Kathy is an ASCA Level 1 coach who coached in Panama City and Maryland before joining the Barracudas. Coach Kathy is also the Ruckel Middle School Coach ( 2 years – Girls County Champions 2006 & 2007). Coach Kathy will lead the morning Bluewater practices this summer.
Coach Kathy is a substitute teacher in Niceville and the mother of 2 swimmers
Dee Dee Smith – Bluewater
Coach Dee Dee is an ASCA Level 1 Coach and the 12 & under Level 3 coach at the Bluewater practice site. A University of Florida graduate in Occupational Therapy, Dee Dee specialized in physical rehabilitation. Dee Dee has been swimming for personal fitness since 2002 and like her son Andrew enjoys backstroke.
Dee Dee is the mother of 4 swimmers.
Daniel Reid – Hurlburt Field
Coach Daniel is an ASCA Level 1 coach that will be coaching the 9-12 level 2 and 3 swimmers at the Hurlburt site. Coach Daniel was a Backstroker and Freestyler at Fort Walton Beach High School where he was a part of the 2004 3rd Place State Team.
Coach Daniel is a student at Okaloosa Walton College
Matt Fields – Hurlburt Field
Coach Matt is an ASCA level 1 coach that will be coaching the 12 & under swimmers at the Hurlburt site each summer. Coach Matt was a Backstroker and Freestyler at Fort Walton Beach High School where he was a part of the 2004 3rd Place State Team. Coach Matt achieved All American status as part of the Gold Medal 200 free relay team and was a silver medalist on the medley relay team.
Coach Matt is a student at the University of Florida
Amy Cantilina -Bluewater
Amy (Parke) Cantilina is an ASCA Level 1 coach and will be coaching the 8 & unders at the Bluewater site. She started swimming competitively at age 7 on a summer age group team in Pennsylvania and began year-round YMCA and AAU swimming at age 10. Amy continued swimming through her college days at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore where she was an 11-time Division III NCAA All-American swimmer specializing in middle distance and backstroke events. She has since competed in open-water competitions, triathlons, and at the national level in US Masters Swimming. She was assistant coach for the summer team at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, before her family moved to Bluewater last summer.
Amy has a masters degree in International Studies with a specialty in China studies. While Amy is thoroughly enjoying her days at home while her kids are young, she hopes that her husband’s Air Force career will someday land the family back in the DC area so she can resume her analytical career for the US Government. She is the mother of 2 swimmers.
